The cost of a bad exit

The damage starts after the last day

Across seven countries, 87% of HR leaders cut jobs in 2025 or planned to, up from 73% the year before1. The research on what happens to those businesses afterwards is consistent, and it is expensive.

Reputation

Ratings fall in weeks. They take years to come back.

After a layoff, Glassdoor ratings from current employees drop and stay down for more than two years. Anxiety words appear 67% more often in reviews in the first year6. Meanwhile 83% of job seekers read those reviews before they apply9.

Illustrative shape based on Glassdoor's published figures: a 0.16-star drop in the first six months, more than two years to recover, projected at about 32 months (dashed).6

Much of that damage comes down to one thing: whether the people leaving were treated well, and seen to be.

That is the part we take off your hands.

Why most outplacement falls short

Encouragement does not tell anyone what to do on Monday morning

186 million people are looking for work worldwide in 202610. Generic advice does not get anyone to the front of that queue.

Most packages offer webinars, a CV template and coaching calls. People leave feeling supported and still without a plan. Waypoint gives each person definite answers and a daily routine until they have moved on.

What a traditional package usually covers

  • Group webinars and job-board tutorials
  • A CV template and a review call
  • Coaching sessions for confidence
  • General advice to "network more"
Typical cost per personUS$2,000 to 15,000+
The programme

From notice day to next role, one step at a time

Every person follows the same proven sequence, built around their own experience, level and target market. Nothing to schedule and nothing to attend.

Week 1

Get clear

An honest read of where they stand in today's market, written in plain English.

  • What employers in their market are asking for right now
  • Which skills they already have and which gaps matter
  • Roles they can step up or sideways into
  • Other industries that need people like them
Week 1 to 2

Get ready

Their experience, said the way the market they are targeting wants to hear it.

  • CV lines written in the language of each industry they could move into
  • The first gap to close, and how long it takes
  • Executive seats: full CV, LinkedIn and headshot studio
Week 2 onwards

Get in front of people

A researched list of target companies, and the person who makes the hiring decision at each one.

  • Named decision-makers, with emails checked before use
  • Decision-makers who share their school or a past employer, flagged as warm routes in
  • Emails written around their story, sent from their own inbox
Every day, for 90 days

Keep moving

The hardest part of a search is the middle. This is where most programmes stop.

  • A daily page with the one thing to do today
  • Follow-up reminders and who has opened their emails
  • New openings scored against their profile
  • Alerts when people move at their target companies
Support

Support that is honest about how hard this is

Slow weeks and silent inboxes are normal. We say so, and give a next step every time.

A dedicated guide to rejection: what normal looks like in numbers, why people do not reply, the traps that slow a search down, and what to do today.

Definite next steps

Every page ends with what to do next. When a company or contact turns out to be a poor fit, we replace it and show them why.

Questions

Outplacement questions, answered plainly

What is outplacement?

Outplacement is the support an employer gives people whose roles are ending, to help them move into their next job. Waypoint gives each person a clear plan, honest guidance on where they can go next, direct routes to the people who hire, and 90 days of support.

How much do outplacement services cost?

Traditional programmes typically cost US$2,000 to US$15,000 or more per person. Waypoint Professional seats are US$1,450 per person, falling to US$1,250 for 10 to 24 people and US$1,050 for 25 or more. Executive seats are US$3,450, falling to US$2,950 for 5 to 9 people and US$2,650 for 10 or more.

Do you guarantee that people will find a new job?

No. Nobody can honestly guarantee a job, and we would be wary of anyone who claims to. We guarantee the plan, the guidance and the access: what to do each day, which roles fit, the companies and decision-makers to approach, and the tools to reach them.

Is this coaching?

Waypoint does not run coaching sessions. Each person gets direct, written guidance they can act on the same day, a daily plan inside their dashboard, and a member of our team on chat and email for 90 days. If you already use a coaching provider, Waypoint gives their sessions something concrete to work on.

Do we see what our former employees do?

No. Once a seat is activated, the programme belongs to the person. Their plan, targets and messages are private to them, and nothing about their search is reported back to you.

How quickly can people start?

Seats are activated as soon as we have names and email addresses. Each person's full programme is live within 5 working days of completing their private intake.

What happens after 90 days?

Each person keeps their company map, contacts and downloads. Live updates and support can be extended at US$95 per person per month, paid by you or by them.

Does it work in every country?

Yes. Each programme is built for the country or city that person is targeting, so a group spread across several countries is covered by one programme and one invoice.

Why not buy individual plans instead?

Individual plans are built for one person buying for themselves. Employer seats add 90 days of Live updates, support from our team for every person, a named account manager for your company, group setup with one invoice, and priority support for executives. Volume rates start at 5 executive or 10 professional seats.

I've been made redundant. Can I buy this myself?

Yes. Individual plans are on our pricing page. You can also forward this page to your HR team and ask for it as part of your exit package.
